Paleontology and Archeology are the cornerstone of the mineral, fossil and gem industry. The industry is made up of thousands of professionals who travel the world to find the product which they harvest and sell at shows like ours! Every state in the U.S. and most every country have fossils of insects, plants, pre-historic animals, dinosaurs and gems and minerals used for history of our planet as well as oil, décor, health products, food, cooking and other necessities. The planet is mined for these materials and past is prologue. What’s here and found today can and will be used thousands and millions of years from now. Just like what’s discovered, dug up and processed from thousands and hundreds of thousands and millions of years ago… for today!
Now an exciting find that paleontologists have discovered for the first time: dinosaur fossils in Hong Kong. Now proof exists that dinosaurs walked pretty much everywhere including Hong Kong. Found in red sedimentary rocks on the tiny uninhabited Port Island (also called Chek Chau in the northeast part of this metropolis. It will provide new and exciting research on the paleontology of Hong Kong never discovered before. And THAT’S exciting.
The dinosaur looks to be a large, aged dinosaur from the Cretaceous Period about145 – 65 million years ago. Now comes the work of determining what species it is from and how it got buried where it was found. New and exciting research can expand even more paleontology on the island, expanding China’s reach for research on fossils and more.
More research and digging to find a complete skeleton if one or others exist there. That will certainly expand this exciting scientific work that may bring a lot more digging and exploration on this tiny island and to the Southeast Asian market for years to come. A truly exciting find that really creates excitement for the Mineral, Fossil and Gem industry!
